The sexual harassment at workplace is a serious offence. The policy of the College on prevention and prohibition of sexual harassment at work place rules shall apply mutatis mutandis. The students of the College should note that sexual misconduct or harassment encompasses a range of conducts including sexual assault, unwanted touching or persistent unwelcome comments, e-mails, pictures etc. Which may constitute harassment and depends on the circumstances of each case.In order to monitorthe cases of sexualharassment the College authority has constituted the Internal Compliant Committee (ICC) and VishakhaCell which have been actively functioning and displayed in the College website. The Sexual Harassmentof Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 provides protection against sexual harassment of women at workplace and for the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment and formatters connected there with or incidental there to, where as sexual harassment results in violation of the fundamental rights of a woman to equality under articles 14 and 15 of the Constitutionof India and her right to life and to live with dignity under article 21 of the Constitution and right topractice any profession or to carry on any occupation, trade or business with includes a right to a safeenvironment free from sexual harassment; and whereas the protection against sexual harassment and theright to work with dignity are universally recognised human rights by international conventions andinstruments such as Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women, whichhas been ratified on the 25th June, 1993 by the Government of India; and whereas it is expedient to makeprovisions for giving effect to the said Convention for protection of women against sexual harassment atworkplace. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act,2013has been displayed in the College website.

The sexual harassment at any official workplace is undoubtedly a violation of women's right to equality, life and liberty. In order to comply with the guidelines on sexual harassment prevention in the workplace, issued by the Honorable Supreme Court of India in 1997 (Vishaka Judgment), the College authority has constituted the Vishakha Cell in addition to the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) with an object to promote the principle of gender equality enshrined in the Constitution of India. The Vishakha Cell is intended to oversee and handle the grievances or complaints of girl students and female employees in the College. Since its formation, the Cell has been promoting the policy of Zero Tolerance against Sexual Harassment in the College campus.
The main objectives of Vishakha Cell are stated below:
- To safeguard the rights of female students and female staff of the College.
- To maintain the healthy and safe environment for girls and women staff in the College campus.
- To prevent any kind of sexual invectives and abuses towards girl students and female staff of the College.
- To provide a platform for listening to complaints from girl students and female staff and resolve the problems.
- To prevent any kind of sexual harassment by using secret monitoring service.
- To maintain a healthy atmosphere in this Co-Ed College.
- To enhance self confidence of girl students, women faculties and staff of the College.
