Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for B.A./B.Sc. (Hons. + Gen.):

Minimum eligibility criteria for admission to UG courses, 2020-21as per the C.U. norms.Admission will be made for B.A./B.Sc. /B.Com (H+G) courses as per the University of Calcutta notification No. CSR/3/18, dt: 07.05.2018 and No. CSR/4/2018, dt: 07.05.2018 (New admission & Examination Regulation for Semester-wise) for the Academic Session 2018-2019.

As per University norms, for admission to B.A. and B.Sc. (both Hons& Gen.courses) it is mandatory to pass HS/ISC/CBSE/NIOS or any equivalent examination ofapproved Boards. Also must have an English paper of 100 marks. For admission to anyHons course an applicant must secure (i) 50% in each best four subjects together withminimum 45% in the subject sought for Hons OR (ii) a minimum of 55% in the subjectsought for Hons. (Note that 5% relaxation is allowed to SC/ST applicants in every case).For Hons in Economics, passing in Mathematics is necessary. Those who have passedwith a minimum 50% in Mathematics in the Science group, they may apply for Hons in B.Com.

A candidate shall be allowed to take up the subject(s) for both Honours and General Courses under heading "A" if he/she had passed the subject (s) under heading "B" at the previous qualifying examination a per the notification no. CSR/28/17 dt. 30th May, 2017:

Note:- Apart from the above seven(7) subjects, the candidates have no restriction to take any subject in their General Courses of studies.

For admission to Bio-Science (Gen only offered) passing apart Biology/ Bio Science,passing in Chemistry is also necessary.

After preparation of the merit list for each course in view of respective “Intake capacities”the listed applicants will have to exhibit the testimonials in original in the college officeas scheduled in the NOTICE. Only the checked & verified applicants will be allowed topay admission fees online / offline.

Eligibility criteria for B.Com.(Hons. + Gen.)- Evening Shift:

A candidate shall be allowed to take up the subject for both Honours and General Courses under heading "A" if he/she had passed the subject (s) under heading "B" at the previous qualifying examination a per the notification no. CSR/28/17 dt. 30th May, 2017:

Note:- Apart from the above subject, the candidates have no restriction to take any subject in their General Courses of studies.

  1. A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the 3-year B.Com. (Honours/General) Course of Studies provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100 and fulfills the conditions as laid down in clause 2.
    Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational Examination in Business & Commerce conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training shall be eligible to seek admission to the B.Com. (General) 1st year Course of Studies under this University. However, no candidate shall be allowed admission after a lapse of more than 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.

    (Explanation: The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating five years from the year of passing the previous qualifying Examination).

    For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the B.Com. Honours Courses, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. However, If the subject "Environmental Science" is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
     
  2. For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the B.Com. Honours Courses, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. However, If the subject "Environmental Science" is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.

    (a) A candidate taking up B.Com. Honours Course in a subject must have obtained:

    i. A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
    OR
    ii. 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

    (b) However, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe Community taking up Honours Course of Study mast have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination, as the case may be.
