About College

To make this purpose of "man-making" successfully in this locality, Bagnan College was established in 16th July, 1958. The zeal and efforts of Late Badal Chandra Maji, an established business man, a social reformer and a lover of education of Khalore village at Bagnan was instrumental in the setting up of this educational institution. This man generously donated a building, a pond, a tube well and a sizeable plot of land to give shape to this noble endeavour. His gift and the untiring efforts of late Bijoy Krishna Paul of Gopalpur village finally resulted in the setting up of this institution of Higher Education in this rural locality.

The efforts of Bagnan Pan Association and Calcutta Boys School deserve special merit in this regard. Sri Sailendra Nath Ghosh of Mahadevpur village donated Rs.15,000/- in the memory of his father for the development of the Bagnan College at the initial stage. Subsequently, Late Satyeswar Samanta also donated Rs.1,00,000/- for construction of the Science Building of the College.
